Calvary Women’s Services, a shelter program for homeless women in Washington, DC is developing a job readiness and interview skills course that will be available to women in their housing program. The donated CAbi clothing will be distributed as part of the final session of the course, where the women will select an outfit in preparation for going on job interviews.

Hope House is a domestic violence shelter which takes in women and children fleeing domestic violence situations, often with no possession but the clothes on their backs. Hope House’s services form a safety net of prevention, education and support for more than 10,000 victims of domestic violence every year. Over 130 women and almost 100 children are currently under the care of Hope House. The donation of CAbi clothes will go to the women survivors of domestic violence.

Minds Matter Twin Cities – www.mindsmattermn.org – St. Louis Park, MN Nominated by: Miranda Posthumus, CAbi Hostess

Minds Matter is an organization committed to making college education a reality for accomplished high school students from low-income families, with 10 chapters across the country. Young women from low-income families who participate in the Minds Matter college readiness program who need, but cannot afford, professional clothing to wear to college interviews, conferences, and other events, will receive their donation of CAbi clothing at the end of the school year.

Parisi House on the Hill is Santa Clara County’s first nonprofit women-with-children residential alcohol and drug treatment facility whose mission is to reduce the inter-generational transmission of drug and alcohol dependence of mothers. Parisi House on the Hill is a residential women & children drug and alcohol treatment facility. While receiving treatment, the women attend life skills training groups such as relapse, parenting, GED preparations, nutritional planning and exercise. Mothers seeking treatment will be the beneficiaries of this CAbi clothing donation.

UMOM New Day Center – www.umom.org – Phoenix, AZ Nominated by: Kim O’Brien, CAbi Fan

UMOM, whose mission is to be a leader in ending the cycle of homelessness, is the largest homeless shelter for families in the state of Arizona. Every night, they provide safe shelter and supportive services for over 170 families through our continuum of services. We also offer over 350 units of affordable housing with Program Centers for residents. Their donation of CAbi clothes will go to women in attendance at their Mother’s Day program.
