Sure, we thought we’d never use geometry after high school, but the runways have proven us wrong, and we couldn’t be more excited for this life lesson. Strong lines, bold prints and geometric structure juxtapose Spring’s likely cast of girly ruffles and soft floral. Not sure you have the geometry gene? Well, here’s a little cheat sheet to keep you rocking all the right angles. The basic rule of print is balance. While larger frames can pull off big, bold prints, large prints will exaggerate the larger parts of your figure, so try a smaller print or a solid dark color on the areas you want to tone down. Likewise, because large prints instantly add volume, employ them create the illusion of curves wherever you are wanting. Be mindful of proportions, and scale the print to your size – if you have a smaller frame, stick with smaller or more abstract prints that won’t overwhelm your shape. If your heart is set on a big, bold print, just remember to balance it with something solid. Of course, when it comes to fashion, the rules aren’t absolute – so take risks and always let your personal style shine! Designers have departed from the rigid rules of mathematics and escaped into a whimsical world of abstract graphics and silhouettes. So embrace this carefree spirit, have fun with geometry, and you just might find that sometimes even a square peg fits into a round hole! |

Bold Geometric Prints: Whether your personal style parallels the runways, or you prefer a perpendicular approach, bold geometric prints add flair to any angle. Geometry has graduated from standard circles and squares into abstract shapes and sizes that are anything but basic. |

Mixing Prints: Rules were made to be broken, right? So throw that one about not mixing prints out the window, and embrace one of Spring’s most fun new trends! Find a common color to weave the prints together, and always remember to balance proportions with one print that is either smaller, more dense, or both! |

Geometric Silhouettes: It’s all the fun of 3D without the silly glasses! Designers have gone deeper than ever into the wonders of mathematic land, playing with proportions, angles, and silhouettes to create rousing renditions of geometry in motion. |

Create the illusion of curves by drawing the eye to focus on the shapes in the fabric or structure. Geometric silhouettes like A-line tops, skirts, and dresses, boxy shoulders, and funky necklines amplify shape.
Triangle: Wear a printed top to draw the eye upward and create the illusion of an hourglass by balancing your hips and shoulders. Rectangle silhouettes like wide, straight leg pants will create flattering lines that slim the hip and thigh.
